Join the competitive TCG community at Stardust Dragon Duel Academy! We host regular tournaments for Yu-Gi-Oh!, Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, and special events throughout the year.

Weekly Yu-Gi-Oh! Locals

  • When: Every Saturday, 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM
  • Format: Advanced Format (current banlist)
  • Entry Fee: $10
  • Structure: Swiss rounds (based on attendance)
  • Prize Support: Store credit and booster packs
  • Registration: Starts at 1:30 PM, tournament begins at 2:00 PM sharp

Monthly Pokémon Tournaments

  • When: First Sunday of each month, 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM
  • Format: Standard Format (current rotation)
  • Entry Fee: $15
  • Structure: Swiss + Top Cut
  • Prize Support: Booster boxes, ETBs, and store credit
  • Registration: Opens at 12:30 PM

Magic: The Gathering Commander Nights

  • When: Every Friday, 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM
  • Format: Commander / EDH (casual to competitive)
  • Entry Fee: FREE (bring your own deck)
  • Structure: Casual pods, rotating tables
  • Prize Support: Random door prizes

Special Events

  • Regional Qualifiers: Quarterly (dates TBA)
  • Pre-Release Events: For new set releases
  • Championship Series: Annual championship tournaments
  • Draft Events: Monthly sealed/draft tournaments
  • Themed Tournaments: Edison Format, Goat Format, Old School Magic, etc.

Tournament Rules & Guidelines

General Rules

  • All players must follow official game rules and current banlists
  • Decks must be legal for the specified format
  • Deck lists may be required for larger events (we'll announce in advance)
  • Judges' decisions are final
  • Unsportsmanlike conduct will result in disqualification
  • Players under 16 must have parental consent

What to Bring

  • Your tournament-legal deck
  • Dice, counters, tokens, and playmat (recommended)
  • Pen and paper for life point tracking
  • Valid ID (for prize payouts)
  • Entry fee (cash or card accepted)

Prize Structure

Prizes are distributed based on final standings:

  • 1st Place: Store credit + premium prize support
  • 2nd Place: Store credit + booster packs
  • 3rd-4th Place: Store credit + booster packs
  • Top 8: Booster packs (for larger events)
  • Participation: All players receive participation promos (when available)

Prize amounts vary by event size and entry fees. Specific prize details announced before each tournament.

How to Register

In-Person Registration

Arrive early on tournament day and register at the counter. First-come, first-served until capacity is reached.

Online Pre-Registration

For major events, we offer online pre-registration. Check our social media or contact us for pre-registration links.

Tournament Capacity

  • Weekly Locals: 32 players maximum
  • Monthly Events: 64 players maximum
  • Special Events: Varies (announced per event)

Tournament Formats Explained

Yu-Gi-Oh! Formats

  • Advanced Format: Current official format with latest banlist
  • Edison Format: April 2010 format (nostalgic competitive format)
  • Goat Format: April 2005 format (classic Yu-Gi-Oh!)

Pokémon Formats

  • Standard: Current rotation (last 2-3 years of sets)
  • Expanded: Larger card pool (Black & White onwards)
  • Limited: Sealed deck or draft formats

Magic Formats

  • Commander/EDH: 100-card singleton with legendary commander
  • Modern: Cards from 8th Edition forward
  • Standard: Current rotation sets
  • Draft/Sealed: Limited formats using booster packs

Community & Casual Play

Not ready for competitive play? No problem!

  • Open Play: Casual games welcome anytime during store hours
  • Learn to Play: New player nights (check schedule)
  • Trading: Active trading community at all events
  • Deck Building Help: Ask our experienced players and staff

Tournament Etiquette

  • Arrive on time - late arrivals may forfeit first round
  • Respect your opponents and judges
  • Keep play area clean and organized
  • No outside food or drinks near play area (sealed drinks OK)
  • Shuffle opponent's deck when offered
  • Call a judge if you have questions or disputes
  • Have fun and support the community!
